(THE BLEEDING FILMS)

Pillion

last watched: February 2026

rating: 4/5

While this movie had some major flaws, the story is important and captivating.

Toward the end of the film we see a real descent into a pleasurable and simultaneously self destructive madness. After Ray continuously ignores Collin and looks at him with unwarranted and misplaced disgust, Collin acts out as a result of under stimulation and betrayal. A masochist is not having a safe place to feel the release from the pain he so desires therefore turns to other forms of reckless and harmful behaviors (Burning his hand and banging his body against the door).

We see this type of behavior in another BDSM movie, Secretary. Both these movies show something that many people who play Collin’s role experience, especially when they are first starting out.

Although a taboo and challenging discussion, it is still present. Icing on the cake was the lead singer of Scissor Sister’s presence as a sassy bottom and the amazing soundtrack (up until when they started looping the mouse eating music)

I agree with a lot of people in this scene who pointed out there was no discussion of consent, aftercare, or testing. Everything was raw (pun intended), dangerous, and unreal. On top of that Ray seemed more disgusted with Collin than enjoying all that he was providing him. No matter what Collin did he was still incredibly unsatisfied. It was unfulfilling and depressing at so many points. More points of for terrible prosthetics.

House of Gucci

Lady Gaga's facecard carried this entire movie

For a two hour long movie the scenes went way too fast. The pacing was god awful. There was no buildup or proper motivation to allow the audience to feel what the characters are feeling.

We are suppose to be rooting for Maritizo when he asks his father for his blessing. We are suppose to be supportive of this couple knowing their downfall. We do not get nearly enough time in this movie to really invest in the characters, real or not.

On a visual level, it also had horrible lighting. The scenes that were meant to be meaningful lacked their punch not only because of poor writing/execution, but also because of the uninteresting, bland, and BORING atmosphere.

Name The Demon

This movie had amazing special fx with the wife and amazing visual shots. Unfortunately that is the only good thing I can say about this movie

There’s a lot of plot holes and inconsistencies throughout this entire film, including but not limited to:

  • unnecessary and brief (but welcomed) priest yaoi

  • random basement wandering

  • out of context and unfitting bible quotes

  • random/incorrect demonology (naming Asmodeus as the demon, apparently being fueled by lust even though Asmodeus is the demon king of lust and jealously and the wife was not the victim of lust but rather the daughter?? Additionally, the wife hints at leaving Salem because of curses in the beginning, even though witches were believed to be servants of Lucifer NOT the underlying princes/kings. Additionally, Asmodeus was pronounced wrong on several occasions in a row mind you…)

  • The list goes on. I originally watched this film because of the praise it got upon its release. I understand the movies very small budget but there are many found footage series that knocked it out of the park despite their budget (early VHS, Marble Hornets, etc etc.) This movie had so much potential to be the next Blair Witch but just fell short.

    It's Never Over, Jeff Buckley

    rating: 1000000/5

I have never seen a documentary that is able to portray a story like the person whose passed is telling it themselves. The way all of the clips and glimpses of Jeff Buckley’s life take us down a raw emotional road makes this movie worth the watch.

    Wristcutters: A Love Story

    I loveeeee nihilism.
However the ending felt rushed and flat. It’s definitely happy which is refreshing, but it didn’t feel like the trip was “worth it”.

I was worried this movie was going to go more down the route of Robert Eggers cinematography with the success of Nosferatu. I was so pleasantly surprised. Though there was definitely some inspiration, the movie is intrinsically Del Toro’s — with whimsical lighting, scenery, and stunning prosthetic work.

    Sinners

    last watched: July 2025

This is one of those movies where I can excuse the poor blood fx and inconsistent accents because the story alone is so incredibly well written and the underlying message was so spectacularly executed.

    Sanitarium

Although the story construction was unique, the repetition of schizophrenic episodes as a show of insanity got old very quick. At the beginning of the movie, they have this whole monologue about insanity. Meanwhile, they only show it through the lens of obsession (minus one story where it was shown as a result of trauma, which I thought was creative). This repetition causes the movie to become predictable, and overall spoils the suspense or any sort of shock that is intended to be conveyed. The ending was also super anti-climactic.

On my binge of tragic gay movies, I came across this one. The raw representations of troubling queer romance skewers your heart throughout this entire film, and the cinematic coloring choices throughout amplify the emotions you find yourself feeling with the characters. I will never forget the line -- "Turns out, lonely people are all the same"

    Nosferatu

    rating: 100/5

This is a wonderfully macabre, dark, and disturbing cinematic depiction of how the trauma from victims of sexual assault can manifest.

"Denied myself? You revel in my torture!"
"He is my shame. He is my melancholy."
"Do you ever feel at times as if you're not a person? What I wish to say is that you're not truly present, nor alive."

All of these quotes have stuck with me ever since I left the theater, along with the ineffable cinematography that captivates you

    Midsommar

I cannot express how well this movie makes you feel like you are in the cult. The bright lights. The wide angles. Everything so jarred and happening so fast, you find yourself unable to really think straight. You are forced to experience this movie similar to the characters within it and I love it.

Sat in the theater and watched this with my family and friends (all inspiring women), and although I felt like this movie was not meant for me, I would be lying if I said I didn't feel every emotion Gerwig wanted me to feel. I could see it on their faces how much they felt too. This is a mark of an incredible movie.
